The thrilling 11-inning matchup where the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Blue Jays by one run attracted a aggregate 51M spectators in the United States, Canada, and Japan territories. MLB stated this is the most-watched World Series Game 7 since the 1991 edition contest between the Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Details

The Saturday epic contest averaged 27.33 million viewers on Fox channels, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second most-watched program of the previous week.

It also stands as the top-rated World Series matchup after the 2017 edition final game between the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew 29.07 million. This represents a sixteen percent improvement compared to the last finale featuring the Washington Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million viewers.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game placed 4th, Game 4 ranked seventh, the fifth game came in 8th, and the third game finished in 13th position.

International Viewership Figures

In the Canadian market, the game drew 11.6M watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This made it the highest-rated English-language program in Canada since the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding game started at 9 PM in the local time zone, it attracted 12 million. This came after last Friday’s sixth game – where World Series Most Valuable Player Yamamoto gave up a single run in six frames – drew 13.1 million viewers, making it the highest-rated World Series game on a single network in the country.

Overall Averages and Patterns

The full seven-match series recorded 15.71 million viewers on Fox, a 2% rise from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This represents the first time since 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has seen viewership growth for two consecutive years.

Counting the Game 1 broadcast on Univision, the complete US viewership reached over 16 million. The total Fall Classic average in the Japanese market was 9.7M and 8.1 million in Canada.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels recorded 8.09 million viewers, an 8% increase over the previous year and Fox’s strongest playoff ratings since the 2017 season.

MLB stated that the Fall Classic was televised in over 200 countries and territories by 44 broadcasting partners in sixteen various languages.
